Jobber Alternatives for Solo Pros and Small Teams (2026)

FieldVibe as a Jobber alternative for solo pros and small service businesses (2026)

The short answer

Jobber has no free plan. It offers a 14-day trial, and its Core plan starts at $49/month for one user (prices checked on vendor pages Oct 1, 2026). If you work solo or run a small crew and want to start free or pay less, these are the field service software options worth a look:

  • FieldVibe: free plan for solo pros with unlimited jobs and clients. Quotes, invoices and payments start at Solo Pro, $20/month. Crews pay one flat $50/month for unlimited users.
  • ServiceM8: free plan capped at 30 jobs a month. Paid plans are priced by jobs per month, not per user.
  • Housecall Pro: no free plan. Starts at $79/month for one user.
  • Tofu: no free plan found. $29/month for one person, with team plans capped at 5 and 10 workers.
  • Workiz: no free plan listed. Pricing by request.

We make FieldVibe, so read this with that in mind. We only list facts we checked on each vendor's own pricing page, with the date, and we say plainly where FieldVibe is not the right fit.

Why solo pros look for a Jobber alternative

Most people searching for a Jobber alternative aren't unhappy with scheduling software in general. They're one person, or a crew of three or four, and they want to run the job from their phone without paying for more than they use. The usual reasons:

  • No free plan. You're just starting out and don't want a monthly bill before the work comes in.
  • Price for one person. $49/month for Core, and automated reminders start on Jobber's Connect plan at $139/month for one user (Oct 1, 2026).
  • Per-seat costs as you hire. Jobber's extra users are $29/month each.

If none of those apply to you, Jobber may be a fine fit. If one does, the comparison below shows what each alternative costs and where its limits are.

Jobber alternatives compared

Three of the five alternatives start below Jobber's $49/month, and two of them have a free plan. Prices are month-to-month for one user, exclude payment processing fees, and were checked on each vendor's pricing page on Oct 1, 2026.

Prices change often, and third-party review sites tend to quote old numbers. Check the vendor's own pricing page before you decide.

The alternatives, one by one

1. FieldVibe

FieldVibe is simple, mobile-first field service software for solo pros and small teams, best for up to 10 people. You run the job from your phone, with no onboarding, mandatory demos or sales calls.

  • Solo (free): 1 user, unlimited jobs and clients, manual (tap-to-send) reminders, a free business website that collects work requests, and a price book. Works on one device. No quotes, invoices or payments.
  • Solo Pro ($20/month, or $180/year): adds quotes, invoices, payments through Stripe, automated reminders (400 a month in the US and Canada, 150 elsewhere), multiple devices, message templates, time tracking and reports.
  • Crews ($50/month, or $450/year): everything in Solo Pro, plus unlimited users, roles and permissions, and 1,000 automated reminders a month in the US and Canada (400 elsewhere).

Good fit if: you want to start free, then pay $20/month only when you need to quote and invoice. Or you have a crew and don't want to pay per seat.

Not a fit if: you need route optimization, GPS tracking, inventory, or a QuickBooks, Xero or Zapier connection. FieldVibe has none of these. Offline mode is read-only.

2. ServiceM8

ServiceM8 has a free plan for one user, capped at 30 jobs a month. Paid plans start with Starter at $29/month for 50 jobs a month, and paid plans include unlimited users. Pricing is based on how many jobs you do each month, not on how many people you have.

Good fit if: your job count is steady and fits its tiers, and you want to add people without per-seat pricing.

3. Housecall Pro

Housecall Pro has no free plan; it offers a 14-day trial. Basic starts at $79/month for one user ($59/month billed annually). Essentials includes 5 users and Max includes 8, with extra users at $35/month on Max.

Good fit if: you've compared it hands-on and its plan fits your team size and budget.

4. Tofu

We found no free plan for Tofu. Its App Store listing shows $29/month for an individual, a Team plan for 5 workers at $79/month, and a Business plan for 10 workers at $149/month.

Good fit if: your crew fits the 5- or 10-worker caps.

5. Workiz

Workiz lists no free plan and offers a 7-day trial. It doesn't publish prices; you request pricing from them.

Good fit if: you're comfortable getting a quote before you can compare costs.

What we found testing the mobile calendars

In September 2026 we tested the iOS calendars of FieldVibe, Jobber, Housecall Pro and ServiceM8 side by side, because the calendar is where a solo pro's day happens. Apps change, so check the current version before you decide. Full test and screenshots.

What that means on a normal day:

  • Rained out at 10 a.m.? On FieldVibe or ServiceM8 you drag each job to tomorrow. On Jobber or Housecall Pro you open each job and edit the date.
  • Crew of four? FieldVibe and Jobber show each tech in their own column, so you see everyone's day at once.
  • Setting up a recurring client? FieldVibe was the only one of the four with a real Month view. Jobber offers a 3-Day view, which FieldVibe doesn't.

How to choose: three common situations

You're solo and just starting out. You need a calendar, a client list and a way to remind customers so they don't forget the appointment. Pick a free plan and check its limit: FieldVibe's free plan has unlimited jobs and clients with manual reminders, and ServiceM8's free plan covers 30 jobs a month.

You're solo and you quote and invoice. Now you need quotes, invoices and a way to get paid. Compare entry prices for one person, then confirm each plan includes quoting and invoicing: FieldVibe Solo Pro $20/month, Tofu $29/month, ServiceM8 Starter $29/month (50 jobs), Jobber Core $49/month, Housecall Pro Basic $79/month (Oct 1, 2026). Also check whether automated reminders are included: on FieldVibe they come with Solo Pro; on Jobber they start at Connect, $139/month.

You have a crew of 2 to 10. Look at how the price grows as you hire. FieldVibe Crews is one flat $50/month for unlimited users. Jobber adds $29/month per extra user and Housecall Pro $35/month on Max. Tofu caps plans at 5 and 10 workers.

Whichever you pick, set up a real week of jobs in the trial or free plan before you commit. You'll know within a few days whether it fits how you work.

When FieldVibe is not the right fit

FieldVibe is built for the smallest service businesses, and it leaves things out on purpose. Choose something else if you need:

  • Route optimization or GPS tracking of your techs
  • Inventory management
  • A connection to QuickBooks, Xero, Zapier or other third-party apps
  • Full offline editing (FieldVibe's offline mode is read-only)
  • Complex dispatching, custom workflows, or support for multiple locations or departments

If any of these is a must-have, check whether the alternatives above offer it before you switch.
